Village of Sublette - 61367

Sublette was established in 1854 when the Illinois Central Railroad came through. The first settlers were farmers from New England and Germany.

During the late 1800’s the village boasted the largest infantry unit in the state. This was a result of the leadership of Bar- thalomaus Theiss, an immigrant of France who had served in the military service under Napoleon.
