63rd Annual Phidian Art Show

Show displays artwork entered in the Phidian Art Club sponsored competition. Winners will be announced by the show’s judge at 7 p.m. Art remains on display two weeks after the show. 9th Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence

PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGE from our traditional 4th of July date.


This one hour event begins at 9 a.m. sharp. This year reenactors depict delegates who signed the Declaration of Independence. Many Sauk Valley people participate each year in this patriotic presentation. Bring your own seating and plan to stay for refreshments. Afterwards stroll the grounds and visit the  historic buildings of this evolving prairie village.

Amboy Depot Days

A celebration of Amboy’s railroad heritage. Thursday the activities begin with the Miss Amboy contest, live entertainment, a teen dance and the opening of the carnival attractions and food stands. Downtown Amboy bustles Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a craft show, a beer garden, pancake and sausage breakfasts, a pork chop dinner, outstanding live entertainment, bean bag tournament, tractor show, parade, and the Amboy Depot Days Car Show. The Depot Museum, Illinois Central Freight House and the one-room schoolhouse are the center of the celebration and are open for visitors.

Ashton Summer Celebration & Toy Tractor Show

Battle of Chaplin Creek

Chaplin Creek Village, 1715 Whitney Rd. (S. State St. in town becomes Whitney Rd.), Franklin Grove.  A Civil War Reenactment and Living History  weekend, is a family friendly event sponsored by the Franklin Grove Area  Historical Society in conjunction with Battery G, Civil War Artillery Reenactment Unit.  The battlefield and field hospital utilize the grounds and 1800s period buildings  and other historical artifacts. Join us at 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday  as we portray the daily life struggles of pioneer days.
